I'm not one to negatively review, but The Grand Lodge kept emailing me to review them, so here it goes: 1) I reserved 2 rooms 8 months prior to our stay and got placed in rooms right next to the lobby and check in counter where there is noise all day and night because there are lines and lines to check in, get towels, etc. 2) I asked to be switched to a different room three separate times, and they could not switch me. 3) Our key cards wouldn't work so we had to get those changed out five different times during our week stay. 4) We had NO hot water ALL week! The shower and sink water was ICE COLD! So only cold showers all week! The maintenance people came in three separate times and couldn't fix the problem. 5) The tv cable was out multiple random times throughout the day three different days. 6) The parking lot was a mess. The hotel was not prepared for the amount of snow we got that week. We shoveled around our car 3 different times throughout the week, and it still took us two hours to get out of the parking lot to get home. They have only one ground crew guy working the entire parking lot so other people were waiting for his help while he was helping us get unstuck. I love Crested Butte, but The Grand Lodge is not the one to stay in. It turns out to be not-so-grand after all.

Our stay at the Grand Lodge was sub-par for a litany of reasons: 1) The staff at the front desk were rude and seemed to be inconvenienced by every request of ours. 2) Our room was not cleaned ONE single time during our (4) night stay. I called several times about this and was told a different excuse each time and that they'd be there "today". Today never arrived. 3) There was an awful sulfur/egg smell coming from the garbage disposal in the room. We called about this and were told that someone would come check it out, they never did. 4) The hot water was extremely intermittent - there were two days where there was virtually no hot water; we were told to leave the water running for 15 minutes (which is an absolute disgraceful waste of water if they're telling every guest this) and even after 15 minutes, the water was lukewarm at best. 5) Our window faced a loading dock of the building and there were vehicles coming and going late into the night. Between this and the extremely thin walls, we did not sleep well at all. For the price, I was absolutely shocked by our experience here. If we ever come back to Crested Butte, we will not be staying at the Grand Lodge. Major improvements need to be made to this hotel for it to be considered a worthwhile stay for the money.

Close to slopes, walking distance. Hot water was hard to come by, staff was very nice but certainly could tell they had staffing issues. Snow was not removed from the outside areas such as the fire pit so it could not be used. The hot tub worked part of the time we were there. If you need a room close to the slopes you can't get much closer.

Overall a great value, better than expected. Rooms definitely show their age, but have plenty of space. And for the price you can't beat the location!

Don’t bother calling or trying to get assistance. I was put on hold, which is no problem as apparently they were busy. We were calling for an issue, when the person finally picked up she said “we are swamped and we don’t have time for you”. And hung up the phone. Sounds good. Great customer service.
