Schweitzer (or as I like to say “Schuss-Why-Zer”) Why is someone schussing you? Because it’s one of the best kept secrets in winter resorts. This hidden gem in Idaho gets more well-known every year. Why? While having over 2.900 acres to ride, it’s delightfully unpretentious, and the resort has a nice local feel. Its base area is relatively small and peaceful, but that means, no big crowds or lift lines on the mountain. Plus we are staying in a brand new hotel called the Humbird where each room features a window seat to a panoramic view of nearby Lake Pend Oreille.
Ski Magazine has voted Schweitzer Ski Resort as “the best kept secret in North America”. There is fantastic terrain and for the really ambitious, there is skiing until 7 PM. Another bonus, during these extra hours, Terry will be giving tips to improve your skiing and Roger will be giving tips to improve your snowboarding.
Join your fun and experienced trip leaders on this adventure to Idaho. Roger & Terry each have many years of leading trips so you can be assured there will be plenty of fun and you will always know when and where you are supposed to be for that fun. Join TBSSB for an awesome week.

The Humbird is a gorgeous new hotel complex that is ski-in, ski-out. These new hotel rooms provide the ultimate refuge for those seeking a connection with the mountain both on and off the slopes. The location of this new hotel and restaurant anchors Schweitzer's existing lodging and village shops around a re-engineered village.
The interiors draw inspiration from classic ski equipment and the vibrant ski colors of the 20th century. Guests will find the main gathering spaces, offering unique views of the mountain, framed by timber panels and columns. Guest rooms are arranged over three floors offering views of nearby Lake Pend Oreille. Balancing the hotel at the opposite end will be the hotel’s “living room,” a place for guests and families to relax and play games.
Guests of both the hotel and the ski area will be welcome to enjoy the 50-seat restaurant, bar, and lounge areas at the Humbird. The Patrol Dogs are known to stop by for treats while you’re enjoying yours. Echoing the openness of Schweitzer's terrain and spirit, these spaces welcome everyone to experience the character and history of this unique North Idaho ski community.

The Mountain

Schweitzer first opened in 1963 and has remained independently owned, operating on 100% private land. Schweitzer is considered by many as the best skiing in Idaho and the best family-friendly resort in the Pacific Northwest, Schweitzer ranks as one of the nation’s top winter destinations with 2,900 acres of amazing terrain thanks to its two massive bowls and renowned tree skiing. Located in the Selkirk Mountains of the northern Idaho panhandle, and only 80 miles from Spokane, WA. Schweitzer overlooks the town of Sandpoint, ID and offers breathtaking views of three states, Canada and the impressive Lake Pend Oreille. This inland Northwest ski resort is also home to Stella - Idaho's only six-person, high-speed lift.
The Schweitzer ski terrain has lots of variety including wide open cruisers, steep corduroy, open bowls, glades, some really impressive tree skiing, and three terrain parks. The trail statistics are 10% beginner, 40% intermediate, 35% advanced and 15% expert, and the double blacks aren’t the pretend kind. The steeps are only short, but they have rock features and are pitchy enough to provide some “pucker factor”. There is a whole area designated for beginners.
