Lodging

The Hotel Captain Cook is located in the heart of downtown Anchorage, and is a perfect basecamp for adventure, offering the best cultural, retail and natural highlights just steps from your door. The Hotel Captain Cook is Alaska’s only member of Preferred Hotels & Resorts Worldwide, an organization of 620 of the finest independently owned and managed luxury hotels and resorts across the world. Each property within the organization is required to maintain criteria to qualify for membership and excels at providing distinctive experiences that are far beyond the ordinary.

The Hotel Captain Cook was recently inducted into Historic Hotels of America, the official travel organization of the National Trust for Historic Preservation. The National Trust founded Historic Hotels with 35 charter members in 1989 for Historic Preservation. Since that time, only 315 hotels and resorts across America have been awarded this prestigious honor for preserving and maintaining their historic integrity, architecture and ambiance.

Alyeska Resort is Alaska’s premier chateau-style hotel. Located in the Chugach Mountain Range, you will experience supreme comfort with modern touches and rich Native influences, bringing Alaska’s outdoors, inside. Guest rooms feature Alaska Native artwork from respected turn-of-the century photographer and artist Edward Curtis.

In the resort entrance and throughout the public areas, a new collection of Native Alaskan artwork is on display. The artwork features Native artists most famous for Inuit or Inupiaq figures and animals sculpted from wood, alabaster, marble, glass, ivory and cast in bronze or other metals. The overall aesthetic is one that can only be found in Alaska, which Alyeska Resort takes great pains to curate.

After the slopes enjoy their inside saltwater pool, whirlpool, spa & fitness center. Dine at the AAA Four Diamond award winning mountain top Seven Glaciers Restaurant or venture to Girdwood and try the Double Musky.

The Mountain

Alyeska has the world’s longest double black diamond run and 650 inches of annual snowfall. With 1,610 skiable acres and 76 named runs, even the skier who has seen it all will be astounded by the terrain and the views. Alyeska Resort hosts 7 total lifts which take you to a vertical rise of 2,500ft:  2 high-speed detachable quads, 2 fixed quads, 2 magic carpets and a 60-passenger Aerial Tram. There are 11% beginner, 52% intermediate, and 37% advanced to expert runs. Intermediate and advanced skiers love the wide-open bowls and long top-to-bottom runs. Tree-lined groomed runs are ideal for the beginner. Travelers can expect temps between 28 & 44 degrees in April, with average annual snowfall of 121.8 inches, and average April snowfall of 9 inches.
Trip Size: 42 travelers.
