Trip Highlights

Think of Whitefish, Montana, and it’s natural to immediately envision amazing views. Rightfully so! It’s just 30 minutes from picturesque Glacier National Park. Then, also imagine skiing down trails with snow-filled trees on either side often in the form of fields of beautiful snow ghosts with endless fantastical shapes and sizes. The trails at Whitefish are among the most beautiful you will see at any ski resort. We’ll be staying at the beautiful 4-star Lodge at Whitefish Lake, which is just 20 minutes from Glacier Park International Airport. Add to this a great mix of trails of all skill levels and you have the formula for a truly memorable ski experience for all. Whitefish is routinely ranked in the Top 10 on industry reader polls for Value & Service. Don’t miss it!

Join your fun and experienced trip leaders, Mike and Bruce, for all the exciting adventures that Whitefish Resort and town have waiting for you! We will fly into Glacier Park International airport in Kalispell, Montana. We then have a short 13-mile drive to our luxury hotel, the Lodge at Whitefish Lake.
“Ski the Fish” with us.

The mountain is just 5 miles (10 min) north of the Lodge, and downtown Whitefish is just 2 miles (5 min) south of the Lodge. Both are easily reached via the FREE S.N.O.W. bus, and the shuttles provided for us by the Lodge.

Although the phrase is overused, this is truly a bucket-list trip. Read on to see why.
Please scroll to the bottom of this page to begin the registration process.

The Town

Whitefish is in the Northern Rocky Mountains of Montana within sight of Glacier National Park. The town was developed by the residents, not outside investors. This is a unique recreation town famous for its beauty. The town has a low-key atmosphere where the people are friendly, genuine, and down-to-earth. Central Avenue abounds with a variety of quality restaurants, shopping, and night life. The word is out, Whitefish is one of the best ski towns in the country.

Lodging

The Lodge at Whitefish Lake is truly a special place. This 4-Diamond property sits between the pristine waters of beautiful Whitefish Lake and the 28-acre Viking Creek Wetland Preserve. There is breathtaking scenery everywhere you look. Plus, it’s conveniently close and central to both the ski resort and downtown Whitefish.
Inspired by the grand lodges of the past, The Lodge offers genuine western hospitality sure to create cherished moments and lasting memories. You will appreciate the first-class amenities of this full-service resort hotel, and maybe enjoy the pool, the hot tub, and the luxurious spa too. The friendly staff will go above and beyond to ensure they exceed your expectations and look after your every need.

The Mountain

Whitefish Resort, formerly known as Big Mountain, is one of the most beautiful mountains you will ever ski or ride. Don’t be afraid of the snow ghosts, they are simply stunning features of the amazing landscape along with views of Glacier National Park, the Canadian Rockies, and Flathead and Whitefish Lakes.

The ski “hill” has 4 skiable sides with 3000 skiable acres that receive an average of 330 inches of annual snowfall. This is above average for most other North American resorts, even destination resorts (those not close to a large population center such as Denver). Another bonus is the relatively low elevation. The summit is 6,817 feet and the base is 4,464 feet. Scarce chance of altitude sickness issues here.

Crowds? Lift lines? High prices? Not here! Whitefish is an off-the-radar destination that caters well to all types of skiers, but without the glitz and glamour of other resorts. This is truly a mountain for all. It’s a solid beginner’s mountain with a highly rated ski school and budget friendly rates. Nearly half the acreage is rated intermediate, so it’s a place that groomer zoomers will love too. Finally, advanced and expert skiers will also find a respectable number of options including some interesting bowls, plus some steep tree runs and cliff sections in the Hellroaring Basin area. There are 105 marked runs featuring plenty of glades, chutes, and bowls to go along with the cruisers. The longest run is 3.3 miles.

The best way to learn about the mountain is to take advantage of the mountain ambassador tour guide service which is offered daily at 10:30 am and 1:30 pm. The guides will enthusiastically tell you everything about the mountain and maybe some history of Whitefish along the way.
