Join your trip leaders, Dave (25-40 at heart) and Brant (actually 25-40), for all the scenic adventures that Whitefish has in store for you! Whether you are an experienced skier or boarder, or prefer a more Après Ski-style trip, Whitefish has it all. The diverse mountain has plenty of runs for the life-long skiers and boarders looking for a challenge, as well as the first-timers and beginners looking to develop their skills. Best of all, you’ll always have a built-in group of tripmates to ski and board with, regardless of your skill level.
Just south of Glacier National Park, Whitefish Resort offers all the charm of an intimate ski town, paired with the benefits of a robust downtown. After a day on the mountain (or at the spa) grab your partner, friends, or tripmates and walk from our conveniently located downtown hotel, the Firebrand, to enjoy all the food, drinks, and shopping downtown Whitefish has to offer.
There will be no shortage of people and opportunities to do your favorite mountain activities with, and no judgement if that’s mostly Après Ski! So, round up your go-to trip buddies, or come solo and meet a new group of skiers and boarders to experience Whitefish with this February!

The Mountain(s)

Whitefish will be one of the most beautiful mountains you will ever ski/board, with views of Glacier National Park, the Canadian Rockies, and Flathead and Whitefish Lakes. There are 4 skiable sides to Whitefish Mountain with 3,000 acres featuring plenty of glades, chutes, and bowl skiing to go along with all the cruisers. There are 105 marked runs supported by 14 Lifts, including 3 High Speed Quads. There are virtually no lift lines. The base elevation is 4,400 feet and the summit is 6,800 feet, so altitude is not an issue here. Terrain is 12% beginner, 37% intermediate, 44% advanced, 7% expert, all adding up to 100% fun. The longest run is 3.3 miles. The average annual snowfall is 330 inches. Night skiing is available Friday and Saturday night. The best way to learn about the mountain is to take advantage of the mountain ambassador tour guide service which is offered daily at 10:30 am and 1:30 pm. The guides will enthusiastically tell you everything about the mountain and maybe some history of Whitefish along the way.
On the mountain there are 7 restaurants, 4 accessible by skiing. Recently Whitefish Mountain added a NEW LIFT with NEW TERRAIN at Flower Point, along with a total of $2 million plus of renovations and improvements! This means seven new intermediate runs, additional advanced, and gladed terrain, and more north-facing slopes that provide excellent conditions throughout the season, plus new breath-taking views into Glacier National Park!
  • Average Annual Snowfall: 330 inches (27.5 feet)
  • Base Elevation: 4,464 feet / 1,361 meters
  • Peak Elevation: 6,817 feet / 2,078 meters
  • Vertical Rise: 2,353 feet / 717 meters
  • Total Skiable Area: 3,000 acres of fall line skiing, 4 terrain parks and a skier/boardercross course
  • Conventional Trails: 111 marked trails
  • Longest Run: The Last Spike, 3.3 miles (Hellfire)

Winter Sports and Other Activities

  • A scenic 31-mile drive from Whitefish Mountain Resort, Glacier National Park is a must-see during your visit to Whitefish. Stunning vistas, glacial fields, crystal clear lakes and rivers as well as an ever-present opportunity to view wildlife, Glacier National Park is truly the Crown of the Continent.
  • A must-do in Glacier National Park is the scenic and historic Going-to-the-Sun Road. This engineering marvel takes travelers 50 miles through Glacier National Park’s wild and pictorial interior. Drive your own vehicle or let a Glacier National Park Shuttle do the driving for you. Or, experience the road and a piece of Glacier National Park history on a Red Bus Tour.
  • We will be there for the annual Whitefish Winter Carnival!!!! All kinds of crazy fun Friday-Sunday. You are encouraged to participate in the “Penguin Plunge” into Lake Whitefish. After they cut a hole in the ice…

The Town

Where small town charm meets world-class hospitality. Whitefish, Montana was incorporated in 1905, a year after the arrival of the Great Northern Railway. Hard working railroad employees, loggers and miners supported the establishment of bars, restaurants and shops along Central Avenue and its cross streets in buildings that still stand today. From the 1927 Tudor Revival train depot at the north of downtown to the first brick building, more than a century old, that houses Great Northern Cycle & Ski at the south end. Whitefish is brimming with charm and character.
Today Whitefish, Montana is a vibrant town that welcomes visitors who rub elbows with friendly locals at its coffee shops, bars and boutiques. Local eateries vary from casual to elegant, many serving locally-harvested ingredients from the Flathead Valley’s bountiful farms. On any given evening, Whitefish is lively with pedestrians strolling to its locally-owned breweries, distilleries, bars or the ever-popular Sweet Peaks ice cream shop.
Over 20 restaurants are within a five-minute walk from our hotel. Just as many steps will bring you to the doors of Whitefish’s legendary bar scene. A more refined nightlife and upscale lounge experience can also be discovered tucked away in downtown locations. Downtown’s covered sidewalks lead to a wide variety of boutique shops, art galleries and custom jewelers. The Firebrand is only 15 minutes from the ski slopes of Whitefish Mountain Resort, and Glacier National Park is just 35 minutes away by car or shuttle.
